My name is John Rata and I am a photographer specialising in live experience, events & performance, with a background in theatre & events producing.

I love capturing the energy, spontaneity, and emotion of people in the moment. Whether it’s actors mid-monologue, speakers commanding a room of hundreds, or colleagues celebrating together, I create beautiful images from experiences of the now. Ones that not only let people relive those moments, but make others go: "Woah, I wish I’d been there!"​​​​​​​​​​

I’ve had the privilege to document people and crowds in all kinds of spaces. From black box theatres and main stages, to large-scale corporate venues and outdoor festivals. I know how to read a space, anticipate a moment, and capture it without disruption.
